Bar Dam in Neyshabour City

Bar Dam in Neyshabour City

Bar dam is located on Bar River on the slopes of Binaloud Mountains in Neyshabour City. This dam is 35.5 meters high from the foundation with a crest width of 10 meters and a 1500-meter crest length with a reservoir volume of 14 million cubic meters. The purpose of the construction of this dam is to provide drinking water to the city of Neyshabur and the industrial water needed by Khorasan Steel Complex. The dam was constructed off stream of the river. Therefore, the river flow is transmitted to the dam reservoir from the upstream of the Cofferdam by a concrete transmission canal of about 1815 m, with a width of 5 m and a depth of 3.2 m

The Islamic Development Bank awarded approximately 25 million Euros in terms of Agency and Istisna’a Agreements for the construction of Bar Dam and transmission canal. The Khoasan Razavi Regional Water Company was the beneficiary and Executive Agency of the Islamic Development Bank. The SWRCE Company was selected as the PMC by the Khoasan Razavi Regional Water Company and approved by the Islamic Development Bank for the purpose of carrying out the management services of the dam and transmission canal and affiliated facilities. The dominance of international regulations especially the regulations of the Islamic Development Bank and the experience of working in this field were the essential conditions to carry out the management services of Bar Dam Project

The Project was financed by the Islamic Development Bank
